Apex Legends hits 10 million players in three days like Fortnite

Apex Legends, the latest online battle royale game to catch attention of gaming public, has become a massive hit in just 3 days. This game got almost 1 million unique users within 8 hours of its launch. The achievement of this game just adding 10 million players in a span of 3 days. This is first ever game that got this type of hike in very less amount of time, even Fortnite battle royale was able to achieve this in 2 weeks.

Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale game set in the Titanfall universe, and it’s a game that mashes together elements of some of the most popular online shooters. This game is similar like fortnite and PUBG with advanced graphical features. Apex Legends was inspired by other wildly popular games like battle royale Fortnite and PlayerUnkonwn’s Battlegrounds where players drop down onto an island where the playable area gets smaller and smaller as people fight to be the last survivors.

Vince Zampella of Respawn Entertainment said in a statement on their new parent company EA’s website:

This has been a truly incredible journey. We tested and tweaked. We argued and agreed. We got to a point where we felt some magic. We knew it would be risky to take the franchise in this direction, to go free to play, and do a surprise launch. But we fell in love with Apex Legends and wanted, needed, other people to play it too.

Apex Legends has been topping Twitch viewing figures since its launch, and is still in pole position at the time of writing, with just shy of 140,000 viewers, considerably outstripping second-place League of Legends which is on 102,000. While Apex Legends is obviously off to a great start, there’s still a long way to go in catching Fortnite which had a player base of 200 million as of November 2018.
